Can’t believe it’s already been a week since the second @makinghistoricaldressnetwork workshop at @janeaustenshouse ! I had a great time playing around with pinking tools on silk and wool broadcloth from @ninyamikhaila @thetudortailor. It was so interesting to see how pinning on the biases creates a strong cut in the fabric that does fray (vs pinking along the grain that causes fraying).

Returning to my royalist family manor after the civil wars…

Finally took my 1650s gown out for a whirl on location.

Continuing my private tours of museums and historic houses, yesterday I got a tour of @astonhallbmt by Rebecca Unsworth.

Had a fantastic time @norwichcastle on a private tour of the Gloucester shipwreck exhibition by Professor Claire Jowitt, including viewing these garments recovered from the wreck.

I was reminded today that it’s been 10 (!!😱) years since I made this self drafted Edwardian day dress as a baby costumer. It’s in imitation of one worn by Sybil in season 1 of Downtown Abbey. I also constructed a teens-era corset to go along with it.
